Finally made an Aerator

It's been HOT here.  Pool has been up to 92, so I made an aerator based off of one I saw on TFP forums.  Check it out:

Great aerator, Russell!  Last summer I made that one too, but ended up switching to another design that gave more more spray height.  In the process I learned that I needed to close off more returns to get the height I wanted at a reasonable pump speed, but by then I was already using the new aerator design, so I'd be curious how the first version would work now.  Regardless, aerators work wonders and with ours we were able to make our pool temperature comfortable again.  It's not without some cost, however, since the evaporation and overspray means I have to top off with water more often, and add chemicals that get lost from the pool.  But I'd say it's worth it for a refreshing swimming experience in the heat of summer.

Cool!  I actually modified my version too.  I drilled too many holes so I used this plastic filler to fill about half of the holes and now it sprays higher and almost out to the other end of the pool.  But yes, I agree on the evap and pH rise.  But it is worth it to no be swimming in a hot bowl of soup.

I’m actually doing that myself, but so I have a fountain to entertain my kid. Hadn’t even seen anything about doing this at all, much less to help cool your pool. This will seriously cool your pool down?! Mines hit 93 already this year and still got August to go.

Trouble free pools post about my design. It’s actually my second design for hard plumbing my pool, but both featured a fountain/aerator

What's the purpose of the relief valve? Can you detail the connection to the existing plumbing in a bit more detail? That's what I'm struggling with currently.

I tried parting one out at Home Depot but couldn't find a 1.5in FPT to SKT adapter that fit onto the little bit and of male thread that shows when you unscrew the top off of my eyeball jet.

This illustrates what I'm talking about best I can find. I don't have that goofy blue thing. Large slots on the inside look like they'd allow me to back it out of the actual return line connection with a massive flathead screwdriver, but was hoping to not have to work that hard =\

Check out http://pvcfittingsonline.com. I just bought a bunch of fittings to hard pipe my AG pool and they were cheap but good quality.

think this is what you’re looking for. http://www.pvcfittingsonline.com/435-015-1-1-2-schedule-40-pvc-female-adapter.html
